Vehicle Inspection | Classic Toyota | Kenosha, WI

Whether you drive a 2019 Toyota Camry, a 2019 Toyota Prius, or an older Toyota model, you’ll eventually have to submit your car to a state inspection. In general, the point of a state inspection is to see if a vehicle releases too many emissions that can harm the environment.

If you live in the state of Illinois and drive an automobile that’s four years-old or older and that was produced during or after 1996, you’re required to have your car inspected every other year. The operators of heavy-duty vehicles aren’t exempt from state inspections. Heavy-duty automobiles with a gross weight between certain paraments and which were manufactured in or after 2007 must also be inspected in accordance with state law.

Vehicles that make it through the state inspection successfully will earn a “pass” certification that’s good for 24 months. Automobiles that don’t pass the inspection will have to undergo work that’s sufficient for them to pass when they are retested.
