The new 2016 Toyota Corolla
When TopSpeed.com, a popular car enthusiast website, recently compiled a list of the auto manufacturer brands most searched on Google by country, the management at Classic Toyota in Waukegan, IL took notice. The colorful map produced by the editors at TopSpeed shows which countries and states searched for particular car brands. According to specific data used from Google searches over a 12-month period from April 2014 to March 2015, the Toyota brand was named the most popular brand worldwide.
TopSpeed and Google’s data seem to validate the Toyota brand’s current status as America’s best-selling automobile brand and its massive popularity. North American searches are predominantly for new Toyota vehicles, as is Australia and most of Africa. Although car-buying customers have the widest variety of American-built cars to choose, searches from the U.S. and Canada show that the brand remains the most popular. In fact, the Toyota brand has jumped ahead of three well-known U.S.-manufactured car brands. Across the U.S., according to TopSpeed’s map, the Toyota brand dominates with Internet users throughout the southern U.S. and both the East and West coasts, from the northwestern state of Washington, south through California and across the Deep South states of Nevada through Texas and Louisiana, north through the East Coast states of Georgia north to Maine, including Classic Toyota’s home state of Illinois. In fact, there are only 12 states in the entire country where Toyota is not represented and 24 states in which it was the clear winner.

The Toyota brand’s dominance in searches extends to other continents such as Africa, which TopSpeed speculates is due to the brand’s affordable models; Central America where the manufacturer continues to dominate as the most searched company in four out of 14 countries; Asia where the brand is the best-selling automaker and was the most searched brand in 11 countries; and Australia, where it is the indisputable sales leader.
