It was another momentum-building year for Toyota. Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., recently reported December 2013 sales of 190,843 units, a 2.2 percent increase versus December of last year (on a daily selling rate basis). It is a feat that certified Toyota dealers near Kenosha are certainly proud of, as it represents the commitment of Toyota automakers to a line of vehicles that consistently exceed expectations in the areas of efficiency, longevity and safety. Though these certainly aren’t the only merits of a given Toyota model, they nearly always represent the foundation on which one is built.

The folks at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana (TMMI) have plenty to celebrate as of late, with their nameplate having recently started the production of the all-new 2014 Toyota Highlander. Yes, some of them might be excited about the fact that this midsize SUV is receiving an exciting refresh. I would venture that they are more excited about the fact that the Toyota Highlander is responsible for $430 million in additional investment and more than 600 jobs at the Princeton automotive plant in Indiana.

The automotive world has come a long way since the plug-in concept was first introduced. Back then, many people doubted the viability of a plug-in vehicle, and few would have predicted that the plug-in hybrid concept would take off in the United States like it has. Even fewer people believed that plug-in driving would one day become affordable, with prices akin to its traditional, gasoline-consuming competitors. But that day has come. Toyota recently announced that the based 2014 Toyota Prius Plug-in hybrid will be offered for under $30,000.

American drivers continue to turn to this cornerstone sedan for its dependability, efficiency and, now, more stylish design. Yet the 2014 Toyota Corolla also hit showrooms last month, its sales numbers indicating that this year’s model was highly anticipated. These strong performances helped Toyota along to total sales of 164,457 units, marking an increase of 4 percent over September 2012 based on the daily selling rate (DSR) metric.
