Toyota launches Road Ahead program in Southern California
There are plenty of Toyota initiatives that demonstrate its commitment to the community. Few of these initiatives hit closer to home than Toyota’s Toyota Driving Expectations program which, since 2004, has educated about 20,000 parents and teenagers on safe teen driving. Toyota has now extended this nationwide program to Southern California with The Road Ahead, a program designed to teach teens in Southern California how to drive safer. more There are plenty of safety features in teen-friendly cars like the 2012 Toyota Yaris. Yet the folks at Toyota know that the way to encourage safe driving among teenagers is to educate them about the habits that every driver should develop. By way of video, live presentations and distracted driving demonstrations, The Road Ahead program focuses on the fundamental habits that will keep teenagers focused and safe when they get behind the wheel. The beautiful thing about this program is that, for high school students in South Bay, Los Angeles and Orange County, it is free and takes place during school hours. What’s more, The Road Ahead features famed professional driver Erica Enders, giving it added appeal for the younger crowd. This kind of education isn’t limited to Southern California. As I mentioned before, The Road Ahead is part of a larger nationwide program, Toyota Driving Expectations, which is at work across the country. As a new car dealer in Waukegan, we’re proud of our company’s focus on teaching our young people the importance of safe driving. We believe that when you match proper driver education with a well-designed, safety-oriented line of vehicles, you get a generation of safer, smarter drivers.
2012 Toyota Tundra hauls spaceship to final location
Hello everyone! It's Fred Marks again, General Manager of Classic Toyota. This month I’d like to talk about Toyota’s role in the recent retirement of the Endeavour space shuttle. The Endeavour, historic for its many missions into outer space for the United States, was recently retired and transported to its final resting place. Its final destination is the California Science Center, just 12-miles outside of Los Angeles, California, and it was towed there successfully by a stock 2012 Toyota Tundra CrewMax 4x4. more The shuttle, which will remain open to the public in an ongoing effort to promote the importance of space exploration, is remarkable in and of itself. The Toyota Tundra that towed it is remarkable too, because it proves just how much a stock Tundra can do. Let’s be perfectly clear: the Endeavour, when combined with its custom-built dolly, weighs nearly 300,000 lbs. This is no small feat for a stock pickup truck; but the Tundra is no ordinary pickup. The stock truck used to tow the Endeavour was able to do so thanks to a 5.7-liter iForce V8 engine good for 381 horsepower. It’s the kind of power that helps the practical get the job done in a wide range of situations, including (now) towing spaceships. This fun story is a great demonstration of the all-around quality of the 2012 Toyota Tundra. If you’re looking for trucks in Waukegan, be sure to check out our online inventory for up-to-date information on everything that we have in stock. We’ll be happy to show you a full line of Toyota vehicles that is imbued with the same forward thinking, boundary-pushing ability of the Toyota Tundra.

True Marksmanship: Fred's take on the month at Classic Toyota
Here at Classic Toyota, we'd like to take this month's post far, far out into outer space. The Space Shuttle Endeavour has been there many times. This year, the Endeavour is to be retired and put on permanent display at the California Science Center in Los Angeles. Towing the Endeavour on the last part of its trip will be the 2012 Toyota Tundra CrewMax 1/2–ton pickup. The Tundra will tow the Endeavour approximately 12 miles to its final resting place outside of Los Angeles. Though extensive testing was carried out to make sure the Tundra is ready for such a task, no enhancements were made to the model used. It's the same 2012 Toyota Tundra that you will find at Classic Toyota. What makes the Toyota Tundra ready to face such a challenge? you ask. Space-grade power 5.7L V8 engine 381 horsepower 401 lb-ft. of torque Maximum tow capacity of 10,000 pounds Once the Tundra has helped the Space Shuttle Endeavour to reach the California Science Center, preparations will be made to get the shuttle ready for the display's opening later in the fall. Apart from giving people a spectacular view of this historic spacecraft, the exhibit will also provide the public an opportunity to learn more about the shuttle's important role in developing modern space travel. Naturally, I'm excited to see one of our trucks playing such an important role in retiring this important piece of American history. There is no question that the Tundra is up to the task. And if you're looking for trucks in Waukegan, then you can count on the same kind of power and dependability that made the Tundra such a clear choice for the Endeavour's last voyage.
