TPMS Light Coming On in Cold Weather? Here’s Why!

We’ve asked our service techs and mechanics to share some of their advice on easy maintenance tips and tricks to help keep you safer on the road.  Today we’re highlighting the importance of properly inflated tires during winter weather months and cold temperatures.  Check it out! more Winter Tire Pressure Temperature changes overnight or from cold winter days can affect your tire pressure. This can cause the low-pressure indicator to appear. Large swings in temperature between day and night can affect the pressure in your tires by up to 10 PSI. The light may shut off on its own after you drive 20 minutes or so, as the air in your tires warms and expands and proper inflation level stabilizes. Regardless, you should get your air checked right away. The TPMS light means your tires are at least 25 percent below the proper air pressure. This is a safety risk, especially if you’re carrying a load close to your vehicle’s max capacity. There’s a greater chance of tire failure, compromised handling and increased wear and tear on your tires. Your gas mileage could also suffer. When you top off your tires, the TPMS light will go off as the tire regains the proper pressure. Note: If the warning light is flashing, this is a problem with the vehicle’s TPMS system, not your tires, and you should take your car to the shop. Our service technicians are available to help at a moment’s notice! Schedule an appointment today for routine maintenance and upkeep before winter weather arrives. America Recycles Day: How Car Manufacturers Commit to Clean Energy, Green Living, and Recycling in the Automotive Industry

Whether you watch a news broadcast on TV, stream a podcast, listen to the radio, or scroll social media, chances are you’ve learned about climate change, environmental crises, and global efforts in reducing energy consumption and increasing recycling.  Today we’re celebrating America Recycles Day by highlighting some of the impressive efforts in the automotive industry to recycle and reuse metal and other materials in efforts to be more eco-conscious! more Did you know that 80% of your car can be recycled? That’s right!  Over 25 million tons of materials are reclaimed from old and discarded vehicles, and they’re one of the most widely recycled items of consumer refuse around the world!  Automotive recycling industry in the United States provides jobs to over 100,000 people, and nearly $25 billion in revenue.  And the North American (US/CA) auto recycling saves 85 million oil barrels each year, and enough reclaimed steel to create 13 million new cars! Automotive manufacturers do their best to reduce waste wherever possible.  Everything from steel and aluminum to car batteries (a whopping 98% are recycled) windshield glass, carpets, rubber hoses, and even seat belts can be repurposed or recycled!  Even tires can be recycled and repurposed into new goods such as rubber for shoes and sandals, filler for playground surfaces, etc.   Experts anticipate that scrap metal recycling will total upwards of $60 billion by the end of 2021, with about 60% of scrap metals being recycled from the automotive industry over the next 10 years. At Classic’s Dealerships, we’re proud to boast some wonderful “Green Options” when it comes to vehicle choice and styling, as both Toyota and Kia have been working diligently to improve their carbon footprint, increase the use of recycled materials, and other environmentally friendly measures, and we’re proud to be a part of it all: Recycled bio plastics are used in seat cushions and interiors of the Toyota Prius, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Matrix, and the Toyota Rav4. Toyota has eliminated use of over 12 tons of PVC materials in its assembly plants. Since 2010, Toyota has recovered and repurposed upwards of 140,000 hybrid batteries. Toyota also has a long-term recycling program and environmentally conscious vision in place. Since January 2015, 85% of every Toyota/Lexus vehicle must be reused or recycled, and it is expected that 95% of it will be recovered and reprocessed. Toyota created a program to recycle plastic bumper covers and convert them into plastic pellets to be sold and processed into other auto parts. The Kia Soul EV’s uses over 50lbs of bio-plastics per vehicle, which are fabricated from cellulose and sugarcane, in 10 different pieces of its interior from door panels to seats to carpets. Kia has adopted a climate friendly pledge including ECO-Friendly Car Lifecycle Management which you can learn more about here. Kia is also working with SK Innovation to create eco-friendly recollection of metals l ike lithium from used EV Batteries. Kia’s aim is to reduce waste and water consumption, and increase recycling efforts with an end goal of zero landfill contributions and zero waste incineration. Kia is expanding its range of “Battery Electric Vehicles” (BEVs) and increasing the total travel mi/km range per charge, and a fast 20 minute high-speed charge time.

Exchange information with other drivers involved in the accident as soon as possible. Our shop will get the estimate done, and will begin repairs upon approval from the insurance company. 2020 Toyota Camry AWD: a Great Alternative for Kenosha Car Buyers

Three simple facts: Wisconsin winters are long and brutal, all-wheel drive helps when things get rough, and not everyone wants a bulky SUV just to get AWD. So how do you find something that ticks all the right boxes? You start by visiting Classic Toyota and checking out the 2020 Toyota Camry AWD, which puts all-wheel drive performance in a sleek, stylish, and feature-laden package that adds up to an exceptionally well-rounded car. more 2020 Toyota Camry AWD: Key Features The 2020 Toyota Camry AWD borrows its drivetrain from the Toyota RAV4 AWD. For now, the AWD system can only be selected on five trims, LE, SE, XLE, XSE, and Nightshade). Furthermore, it’s only available with the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. So if you want the base L trim, or the top-tier V6-powered TRD, for instance, you might have to wait for the next level of the Toyota Camry. That said, there’s still a lot to love about the AWD Toyota Camry, because everything else that makes it popular is right where we left it, from standard TSS-P safety features and smartphone mirroring to a cabin that’s still as plush and hushed as ever. There’s still plenty of room for optional features, including a JBL sound system, a 10-inch color HUD, and a Cold Weather Package that adds heated seats, mirrors, and steering wheel to trims that don’t already have them. Is the 2020 Toyota Camry AWD Worth It? In a word, yes. An all-wheel drive sedan will be especially welcome to anyone buying or leasing a new Toyota car at our Toyota dealership serving Kenosha WI. The better traction helps with sloppy driving conditions, and they’re the ideal complement to the sedan’s smaller footprint and lower center of gravity that are already predisposed to better handling. You can call Classic Toyota to find out when we have a 2020 Toyota Camry AWD and we’ll be happy to schedule a test drive.

When You Should Have Your Wheel Alignment Inspected at Our Toyota Dealership Near Gurnee, IL

Having been a Toyota dealer serving Gurnee, IL and surrounding areas for so long, we know some motorists have a lot of questions about vehicles. One question you’ll never have to ask is, “Can I find a Toyota service center near me where I can learn how often I should have my car’s alignment checked?” more We’re always happy to shed light on automotive topics, including your car’s alignment. To begin with, a wheel alignment is also known as a suspension alignment. When your vehicle first rolls off the production line, the angles on its suspension were perfectly aligned, which ensured your wheels respond to your turns correctly. As time passes, and you accumulate miles and encounter obstacles on the road, your alignment might get thrown out of whack. Because so many factors influence your car’s alignment, there isn’t one set answer to when you should have it inspected regardless of whether you own a new or pre-owned car. Whenever you notice a sign that your alignment is off, such as rapid or uneven tire wear or your car pulling to one side or the other, you should have it inspected. If you hit an obstacle like a pothole or curb, or your vehicle is involved in an accident, it’s time for an alignment check. Even if those things don’t happen, you still need to schedule an appointment to bring your automobile into our Toyota service center near Kenosha, WI for an alignment inspection every 6,000 miles or every other time you have your oil changed. If that’s not feasible, you should have your car’s alignment checked at least once every year. To learn more about having your wheel alignment inspected, give us a call, contact Classic Toyota online, or visit our Toyota service center today!
