2015 Toyota Prius c Receives IIHS Top Safety Pick

The subcompact 2015 Toyota Prius c is the smallest and most affordable hybrid we sell at our Waukegan Toyota dealership. Many drivers can feel concerned about their safety driving a smaller vehicle, but there’s no need to worry about the 2015 Toyota Prius c as it was just named an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick. more A few years back, the IIHS introduced their small-overlap front crash test designed to simulate a crash where the driver’s front left corner comes in contact with another car or a pole. This is a common type of collision that could potentially cause the collapse of the front cabin. Automakers across the board initially struggled with the test, especially with their subcompact cars. Toyota has responded by strengthening both the interior driver space as well as the front end of the 2015 Toyota Prius c. In addition, they also lengthened the reach of the interior side curtain airbags. Thanks to those changes, the vehicle earned a passing “Acceptable” rating in the small-overlap crash test. In the moderate-overlap front, side, roof strength, and restraint tests, the small hybrid earned a perfect score of “Good.” Altogether this was enough for the IIHS to give the vehicle their Top Safety Pick award. The 2015 Toyota Prius c comes with a 1.5L four-cylinder gas engine paired with an electric motor and battery pack. Together they help the hatchback to achieve an EPA-estimated 53 mpg city and 46 mpg highway. You can get behind the wheel of a new 2015 Toyota Prius c in Waukegan at Classic Toyota. If you’d like to learn more about the subcompact hybrid, the standard 2015 Toyota Prius, or the larger 2015 Toyota Prius v, contact a Toyota dealer today.

2016 Toyota Mirai Has Longer Zero-Emissions Driving Range

Our Toyota dealership near Gurnee has been keeping close tabs on the 2016 Toyota Mirai. While the vehicle is so far only available to purchase in California, the vehicle’s hydrogen fuel cell technology could be the zero emissions solution the auto industry has been waiting for. more Similar to an electric car, the 2016 Toyota Mirai has an electric motor producing 151 hp and a big 247 lb-ft of torque that is fed power from a nickel-metal hydride battery. The difference is that it’s a bit moreof a hybrid like the 2015 Toyota Prius. Power is generated by a fuel cell system instead of from plugging into an outlet. The only byproduct of driving the 2016 Toyota Mirai is water. The EPA has estimated the 2016 Toyota Mirai can go 312 miles before needing to refuel, which is higher than any other zero-emissions vehicle currently on the market. The 2016 Toyota Mirai carries five kilograms of pressurized hydrogen in its fuel cell. With 1 kilogram equaling about the same as a gallon of gasoline, the 2016 Toyota Mirai gets the equivalent of 62.4 mpg. While the 2016 Toyota Mirai has come out swinging, there are still some obstacles to ensuring its success and hydrogen fuel cell technology. Currently there are only 12 hydrogen refueling stations in the country with 10 of those in California. To help along early adopters, Toyota will provide three years of free refueling and plans to build 46 more charging stations in California. If the 2016 Toyota Mirai takes off in California, we will likely see Toyota begin to work with other states to develop a hydrogen infrastructure. There may also be a solution in the form of investing in home charging station technology and the vehicle may also become popular with fleets who tend to have their own refueling stations. In the meantime, Classic Toyota recommends the 2015 Toyota Prius for drivers looking to ease their environmental footprint while getting great fuel economy. The current Toyota hybrid hatchback gets an impressive 51 mpg city and 48 mpg highway.

At Classic Toyota, we’re proud to offer new cars at a variety of price points, including affordable models like the 2015 Toyota Yaris. We realize, though, that not all cars meet all needs, and your family may require a bigger vehicle. Fortunately the Toyota brand’s reputation for durability and reliability means you can drive your car for potentially 200,000 miles or more. more Consumer Reports magazine recently took a look at cars that are the most likely to pass the 200,000 mile mark. Each year, the magazine has an annual research survey that takes analysis of 1,000,000+ cars. The end result is a list of 10 vehicles based on actual ownership experience. Five of the vehicles on the list were Toyotas. The compact Toyota Corolla, the midsize Toyota Camry, the Toyota Highlander crossover, the Toyota Prius hybrid, and the Toyota Sienna minivan all made the cut. These models offer a variety of sizes and options, so it’s not hard to find a long-lasting vehicle that meets your needs. The Pros and Cons of Buying New vs. Used Vehicles

At Classic Toyota, we carry used cars in Waukegan along with afull new Toyota lineup.  Whether you choose to buy new or used, both have their advantages and disadvantages. If you’re not sure which is right for you, hopefully we can help. more Buying a New Car The advantages of buying a new Toyota vehicle are plenty. Newer cars are going to have higher fuel efficiency along with more advanced safety features. The financing rates are going to generally be lower when buying new, and manufacturers regularly offer cash and low APR incentives on their latest models. When you buy new, your purchase will be protected by a warranty. Other than oil changes and normal wear and tear, our service center will take care of any issues without cost to you for the duration of the warranty. On the other hand, buying a new car will cost more than buying used. New cars do depreciate quickly, about 30 percent in the first three years, though this will even out if you plan on keeping the car for a while. Buying a Used Car Used cars can be much more affordable, giving you more options with your money. For instance, $15,000 will buy a new subcompact, but used you could get a pickup, SUV, or even an older luxury model. Depreciation happens a lot slower with older models, so you won’t have to worry about your investment decreasing as much. Certified pre-owned Toyota cars also offer warranties like new cars and come with increased reliability. On the downside, ownership costs will likely be more than if you bought new. Your used car may be less efficient, and there’s a higher potential of parts breaking down as the car gets older. Financing rates are not as competitive in the used world, so you may be paying more interest. Find Your Next Car at Classic Toyota At our Waukegan car dealership, we carry the full Toyota lineup along with pre-owned cars from all types of automakers. Whatever you’re looking for, our dealership will have it!

Don’t Miss Out on the 2015 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid

Toyota is actively working on the next generation 2016 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid. Compared to the 2015 Toyota Prius, the 2015 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid lets the car drive solely on electric power for a limited time before switching to a blend of electric and gas performance. If you are curious about the current generation of the 2015 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid, this is the time to get behind the wheel! more The automaker recently announced they would stop production of the 2015 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid as they ramp up for the next generation. 2016 hybrids will likely start showing up towards the end of this year or early in 2016. Currently the 2015 Toyota Prius and 2015 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid have the same styling and that’s expected to change. Since the current 2015 Toyota hybrid is halting production next month, this is one of your last chances to get behind the wheel before the next generation comes out.
