Following up on the recent recognition of Classic Toyota as a Five-star Edmunds Dealership, another study highlights an important quality of new Toyota cars -- longevity. We're extremely proud to be featuring durable cars that serve our clients well for years to come. more A new study from a Boston-based research company called iSeeCars.com carefully compared approximately 12 million cars to reveal which ones serve best after a long time. Scion Brand Transitions to Toyota

Classic Toyota is excited to share big news regarding the Toyota company. Our Toyota car dealership also carries Scion cars, a marque that's been an extension of Toyota since 2003. Last week, Toyota announced that Scion cars will be rebranded in the near future as new Toyota cars, an important distinction that carries ramifications for the brand as a whole. more Announced in a press release, the Scion brand merge with Toyota ends a 13-year-old period that's delivered valuable information for the Toyota company. Scion fulfilled a mission on two different levels: sales numbers and data about customers. "I was there when we established Scion and our goal was to make Toyota and our dealers stronger by learning how to better attract and engage young customers," said Jim Lentz, founding vice president of Scion and now CEO, Toyota Motor North America. "I'm very proud because that’s exactly what we have accomplished." Scion achieved more than one million in sales, but it also delivered a number of good data points to the company. It set out as a car make that's made to appeal for younger clients, and the statistics show that. Brand new customers composed 70 percent of Scion purchasers, and half of the drivers were aged under 35. Starting in August this year, some Scion cars will start to carry the Toyota mark on them. This list so far includes the MY17 Scion vehicles the FR-S sports car, the iA sedan, and the iM 5-door hatchback, as well as the tC sports coupe. It wasn't just for show, either -- although some of the features presented were future concepts, the rest of them may soon be coming to upcoming new Toyota cars. Toyota Tops the IIHS Year-End Safety Review

At our Toyota dealership in Waukegan, we care about the safety of our customers. That’s why we stock the latest cars from Toyota, featuring some of the best safety technology in the industry. This was recently reinforced by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s year-end review. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is one of the two leading crash safety test organizations in the country—the other being the government’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The IIHS is operated independently of the government by the Insurance Industry and arguably has stricter safety regulations that are used by consumers, the auto industry, and insurers setting rates. Some of their regulations like a tough front small overlap crash test are being adopted by the government in the future. more Only 48 cars in the United States earned the IIHS’s top Safety Pick + award, their highest designation, and Toyota came out on top with eight models on the list, the most of any other automaker. Most notably, there was only one fully US-made car on the list. What’s been difficult for many automakers, besides Toyota, is passing their small-overlap front crash test. Introduced three years ago, the test simulates what happens when the driver’s front corner hits a fixed barrier (like a utility pole or off-road tree). In many cases, this common crash can cause severe cabin damage if the vehicle isn’t properly enforced. Additionally, the Insurance Institute requires vehicles to offer an automatic braking system with a rating of “good.” The technology must either stop or slow down the car if the driver doesn’t react in time. Overall, the IIHS is a force for good: compelling automakers to make sure their vehicles are built safely. At Classic Toyota, we’re very proud Toyota made the top of the year-end safety review. We sell cars we truly believe in and this is why. Contact our Toyota dealers to learn more about which vehicles made the list and what cars are going to be the safest for your family!
